A family-entertainment company best known for the Chuck E. Cheese restaurant chain, where kids eat pizza, play arcade games, and watch animatronic animal shows; it also runs the Peter Piper Pizza brand. It was founded in 1977 by Nolan Bushnell, co-creator of Atari, who built the first location in San Jose to give arcade games a family-friendly home. The name came about by accident: Bushnell bought what he thought was a coyote mascot costume, only to receive a rat — after rejecting "Rick Rat's Pizza," his team settled on the "triple-happy" Chuck E. Cheese.
