Templeton Emerging Markets Income Fund

A closed-end investment fund run by Franklin Templeton, it buys bonds and other income-paying securities issued by governments and companies in emerging-market countries, aiming to pay shareholders steady monthly checks. It launched in 1993 and carries the Templeton name in honor of the legendary investor Sir John Templeton. A fun quirk: as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford, the young Templeton financed his studies partly with his poker winnings.
