Saks Incorporated
A luxury department store operator behind the famous Saks Fifth Avenue chain, selling high-end fashion, beauty, and home goods to shoppers across the US. The story starts in 1867, when Andrew Saks opened a men's clothing store in Washington, DC, and his son Horace later teamed with cousin Bernard Gimbel to open the first Saks Fifth Avenue in New York in 1924. In 1998 the Birmingham retailer Proffitt's bought the Saks name and took it for itself, keeping the brand alive to this day.
