Colonial Properties Trust
A real estate investment trust that owned, developed, and managed apartment communities, offices, and retail centers across the American Sunbelt, headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama. It grew out of the Lowder family's construction business, which began in the 1950s, and went public in 1993 under the ticker CLP. The "Colonial" name was shared across the family's enterprises, including Colonial Mortgage and Colonial Insurance, and the trust was absorbed by Mid-America Apartment Communities in 2013.
