Lydall Inc

A maker of engineered materials that soak up heat and muffle noise, Lydall supplied thermal and acoustical insulation to carmakers and filtration media to industry, and later became part of Alkegen. Its roots reach back to 1869, when Henry Lydall began making knitting needles in Connecticut, though the company itself was born in 1969 when the Colonial Board Company merged with the Superior Steel Ball Company and took his name. A firm that once made paperboard came to craft heat shields inside car engines.
