A maker of laser and light-based devices used in medical aesthetics, Cynosure builds systems that doctors and clinics use for hair removal, skin resurfacing, and body contouring, with well-known platforms like Smartlipo. Founded in 1991, the company took its name from the word "cynosure," meaning a guiding star or center of attention. In 2024 it merged with fellow aesthetics firm Lutronic to form Cynosure Lutronic, Inc., and its devices are sold in more than 130 countries.
