A maker of women's apparel, shoes, and accessories, Ann Inc. is the parent company behind the Ann Taylor and LOFT clothing brands, known for professional and casual wear for women. The Ann Taylor name was invented in 1954 by founder Richard Liebeskind, who borrowed it from a best-selling dress style at his father's shop — there was never a real person named Ann Taylor. The company later launched LOFT in 1996 to reach a younger, more casual crowd.
