Bruker Corporation
A maker of high-performance scientific instruments, Bruker builds the NMR, mass spectrometry, X-ray, and microscopy tools that researchers use to study molecules, cells, and materials, plus superconducting wire for MRI and fusion energy. It was founded in 1960 in a backyard workshop in Karlsruhe, Germany, by physicist Günther Laukien and Dr. Emil Bruker. The company carries Bruker's name because German rules barred professors from commercializing their research, so Laukien couldn't be listed as a founder.
