Carnival Plc
One of the world's largest cruise companies, Carnival owns a fleet of well-known lines including Carnival Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Holland America, Cunard, and P&O, carrying vacationers to destinations around the globe. It began in 1972 when entrepreneur Ted Arison launched Carnival Cruise Line in Miami, and in 2003 it merged with Britain's P&O Princess Cruises to form the dual-listed company known today. The name "Carnival" was chosen to shake up the formal, stuffy cruising style of the era with a fun, festival-like vibe, and its early ships were christened with celebratory names like Mardi Gras and Festivale.
