Vedanta Limited
A global natural resources and technology conglomerate based in Mumbai, Vedanta digs up and processes minerals, oil, and gas — turning out zinc, lead, silver, copper, and aluminum used in everything from cars to packaging. Founder Anil Agarwal started in the 1970s as a scrap-metal trader in Mumbai before building the group through acquisitions like Hindustan Zinc, one of the world's largest zinc producers. The name "Vedanta" is a tribute to his mother, Vedvati Agarwal.
