Telesis Bio Inc.

A maker of benchtop "DNA printers" for synthetic biology, Telesis Bio builds the BioXp system and Gibson SOLA platform, which let researchers synthesize DNA and mRNA right in their own labs instead of mailing orders out. The company was founded in 2011 by Dr. Daniel Gibson — inventor of the widely used Gibson Assembly technique for stitching DNA together — and genomics pioneer J. Craig Venter. It launched as Codex DNA before renaming itself Telesis Bio in 2022; "telesis" is a word for progress achieved through intelligently planned effort, a fitting name for machines that build genetic material on demand.
