A maker of non-invasive devices that help doctors spot sleep apnea and heart problems. Its best-known product, WatchPAT, is a small fingertip sensor worn in bed at home, replacing the bulky overnight lab sleep study by reading changes in blood flow to detect breathing pauses. Founded in 1995 by an Israeli engineer, the company took its name from the founder's brother, Itamar, a soldier killed in the Yom Kippur War while rescuing a wounded comrade; it was later folded into ZOLL Medical.
