A special purpose acquisition company, or blank-check company, formed to raise money from investors and merge with a private business to take it public. Northern Genesis Acquisition Corp. II was created by Northern Genesis Sponsor II LLC and went public in 2020, later combining with Hyzon Motors, a maker of hydrogen fuel cell trucks for commercial fleets. The "Northern Genesis" name reflects its founding team's roots in the Great Lakes region.
