A blank-check company, or SPAC, formed to buy a private business and take it public through a merger. Launched in 2020 by Singapore's venture capital firm Vickers Venture Partners, it raised money to hunt for a takeover target and in late 2022 closed a deal combining with Scilex Holding, a US biopharmaceutical firm. The "Vickers" name traces to the firm founded in 2005 by Dr. Finian Tan, who is said to have been named after St. Finian of Clonard because he was born on that saint's feast day.
