A holding company that invests in and operates technology businesses, Actua was formerly known as Internet Capital Group, a pioneer of the dot-com era that backed business-to-business internet companies. It later rebranded as Actua and shifted toward owning and running a portfolio of software and technology firms. The name change reflected its move from a venture-style investor to an operating company.
