Versartis, Inc.
A biopharmaceutical company based in Redwood City, California, that develops long-acting protein drugs for hormone disorders. Its lead product, VRS-317 (somavaratan), was a growth hormone designed to be given far less often than daily injections for people with growth hormone deficiency. Founded in 2008 as a venture between Amunix and Index Ventures to explore Amunix's XTEN technology, which lets therapeutic proteins linger in the body longer, Versartis later merged with oncology-focused Aravive Biologics.
