Easterly Acquisition Corp.
A "blank check" company — technically a Special Purpose Acquisition Company, or SPAC — Easterly Acquisition Corp. was set up by the asset-management firm Easterly LLC in 2015 to raise money from public investors and later find a business to buy. In late 2018 it completed its merger with Sirius International Insurance Group, the Bermuda-based reinsurer, allowing Sirius to trade on the Nasdaq under its own ticker and folding Easterly into it. A "blank check" SPAC raises cash with no operating business yet, trusting shareholders to approve a future target — in this case, a global insurer.
