A maker of digital surround-sound technology, DTS creates the immersive audio formats that bring movies, music, and home theaters to life in cinemas and living rooms. It began as Digital Theater Systems, founded in 1990 by audio engineer and Caltech graduate Terry Beard, and first made its name when its sound system was chosen for the 1993 film Jurassic Park. In 2016 the company was acquired by Tessera Technologies and later became part of Xperi.
