Akari Therapeutics Plc
A biotech company engineering antibody-drug conjugates—"smart bombs" that carry a toxin to cancer cells. Its twist is a payload called PH1 that disrupts how cancer cells splice their RNA, killing them and waking the immune system; its lead drug AKTX-101 targets the TROP2 protein on solid tumors. Akari was born in 2015 when Celsus Therapeutics absorbed Volution Immuno Pharmaceuticals and took a name meaning "light" in Japanese. Earlier it made Coversin, a drug derived from tick saliva.
