Analogic Corporation
A maker of high-performance imaging systems for the medical and airport-security worlds, Analogic builds the CT scanners that screen checked luggage at airports and the technology behind medical scans. Engineer Bernie Gordon, a pioneer in analog-to-digital conversion, founded the company in 1967 and named it for that very craft. A fun twist: the same CT imaging that lets doctors see inside the body also powers the baggage scanners that keep planes safe.
