Gores Holdings, Inc.

A blank-check investment vehicle, one of a long series of special purpose acquisition companies, or SPACs, created by The Gores Group to raise money and merge with a private business to take it public. Founded by Alec Gores, who started the firm in 1987 and pioneered the SPAC model in 2015, these shells have helped bring familiar names like snack-maker Hostess Brands (maker of Twinkies), Matterport, and electric-car maker Polestar to the stock market. Each new "Gores Holdings" gets a fresh roman numeral, and the first one famously took the Twinkie-maker public in 2016.
