Knoll Inc
A maker of modern furniture for offices and homes, Knoll produces some of the twentieth century's most recognized designs, including the Barcelona chair by Mies van der Rohe and Eero Saarinen's tulip chair. It was founded in 1938 in New York City by Hans Knoll, a German furniture maker's son who brought modernist European design to America. The company carries the family's name, and after architect Florence Schust married Hans in 1946, the two built the brand by recruiting famous designers.
