A rate and comparison publisher that helps everyday shoppers compare mortgages, credit cards, savings accounts, loans, and insurance on one website. It grew out of the Bank Rate Monitor, a newsletter founded by journalist Robert K. Heady, a former editor who wanted to pull interest-rate data out of industry publications and put it in plain English for ordinary consumers. The business moved online in 1996 as Bankrate.com.
