A biopharmaceutical company focused on nervous-system medicines, Chelsea's lead product was Northera (droxidopa), a drug for neurogenic orthostatic hypotension — a condition that makes people with Parkinson's disease and similar disorders feel dizzy or lightheaded when standing. Incorporated in 2002 as Aspen Therapeutics, it renamed itself Chelsea in 2004, yet stayed headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Danish firm Lundbeck bought the company in 2014, right after the U.S. FDA approved Northera.
