Cnooc Limited
A producer arm of China's state-owned offshore oil group, CNOOC Limited is the country's largest extractor of crude oil and natural gas from the seabed, drilling in the Bohai and South China seas and in overseas countries. The parent CNOOC group was founded in 1982 to develop China's offshore reserves, and the limited company was spun off and listed in Hong Kong in 2001. Its name stands for China National Offshore Oil Corporation and is pronounced as one word, "see-no-oh-cee."
