Molecular Templates, Inc.
A maker of cancer therapies built on a bacterial toxin, Molecular Templates engineered Shiga-like toxins into Engineered Toxin Bodies—guided missiles that find and kill tumor cells. The biotech was founded in 2009 by researchers from the University of Toronto, who moved it to Austin, Texas. Its name comes from its core idea: a molecular scaffold, or "template," onto which different targeting pieces can be attached for different cancers.
