A maker of cancer-fighting drugs that targets "cancer stem cells" — the small cluster of cells thought to drive tumor growth and recurrence. Founded in 2004 by University of Michigan scientists Dr. Michael Clarke and Dr. Max Wicha, the company's name fuses "oncology" and "medicine." It was folded into the British biotech Mereo BioPharma in 2019.
