Central Fund of Canada Ltd
A Canadian investment company that held physical gold and silver bullion so everyday investors could own precious metals through a publicly traded share, without the hassle of storing and insuring bars themselves. Founded in 1961 by Philip Spicer and nicknamed "The Sound Monetary Fund," it traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange and later NYSE American. In January 2018 its assets were folded into the Sprott Physical Gold and Silver Trust, ending its run as an independent fund.
