Geron Corp
A biopharmaceutical company making treatments for blood cancers and bone marrow disorders, Geron's approved drug RYTELO is given to adults with myelodysplastic syndromes who need blood transfusions. Founded in 1990 by biogerontologist Michael West, the name comes from the Greek word "geron," meaning "elder," reflecting an original focus on the biology of aging. Its work builds on Nobel Prize-winning research into telomeres, chromosome caps often called a "molecular clock."
