Western Asset Inflation-Linked Income Fund
A closed-end investment fund that aims to produce income by investing mainly in inflation-linked bonds, whose value automatically adjusts with the cost of living. Launched in 2003 and managed by Western Asset Management, a unit of Franklin Templeton, it keeps much of its money in US Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS). A fun piece of history: TIPS didn't exist until the US introduced them in 1997, adapting an idea that had first taken hold in Britain in the 1980s.
