Founded in 1982 as the Cable Services Group, a division of First Data, it started by automating the paper-ledger billing of cable TV operators, then spun off as an independent company in 1994 and grew to serve telecommunications and media firms around the globe. Its name CSG still quietly recalls its cable-TV roots.
