Amerigas Partners, L.p.

One of the largest retail propane distributors in the United States, AmeriGas delivers heating, cooking, and appliance propane to homes, farms, and businesses across all 50 states, and sells its own AmeriGas-branded propane tanks. The company grew out of Ugite Gas, a regional Pennsylvania operation, and got its name in 1978 as a portmanteau of "America" and "gas" meant to signal a national reach. Today it operates as a subsidiary of UGI Corporation, and its familiar green propane cylinders are a fixture at hardware stores and gas stations nationwide.
