A Worcester, Massachusetts firm that built an online auction platform where businesses, governments, and institutions bought electricity, natural gas, and environmental commodities. Founded in 2001, it grew from an earlier venture begun in 1996 and matched buyers' power needs with sellers in the newly deregulated energy market, holding "virtual auctions" for procurement. EnerNOC acquired it in 2015.
