Rio Alto Mining Limited
A gold and copper miner that built and ran the La Arena mine in the La Libertad region of north-central Peru, pouring its first gold there in 2011. Founded in Vancouver in 2006, it grew by folding in the nearby Shahuindo project through a merger with Sulliden Gold in 2014, then was itself absorbed by Tahoe Resources in 2015. The Spanish name "Rio Alto" means "high river," a nod to the company's focus on Latin American mineral projects.
