A maker of men's business attire, Jos. A. Bank sells suits, tuxedos, dress shirts, and formalwear that people rent for weddings and proms. The brand grew from a tailor shop opened in Baltimore in 1866 by Lithuanian immigrant Charles Bank; his grandson Joseph took over the trade, and the company officially dates its start to 1905. A fun chapter: after World War II, Howard Bank began selling suits straight off simple pipe racks in the factory, a direct-to-consumer move that helped define the label's value-for-money style.
