Noranda Aluminum Holding Corp
A maker of aluminum products and rolled coils, Noranda Aluminum turned bauxite from Jamaica into everyday goods like foil and sheet through its Norandal brand. The name came from the old Canadian mining firm Noranda (short for "Northern Canada"), founded in 1922; the modern holding company was created in 2007 when private-equity investors bought the aluminum business of mining group Xstrata.
