Lsi Corporation

A semiconductor company that made the custom computer chips known as ASICs, later shifting to the storage and networking chips that power data centers and hard drives. Founded in 1980 by Wilfred Corrigan, a former Fairchild CEO, it helped pioneer the "fabless" model—designing chips without owning its own factories. Its name LSI comes from "Large Scale Integration," the engineering term for packing thousands of circuits onto one tiny chip.
