Lender Processing Services, Inc.
A maker of mortgage and real-estate software and data, Lender Processing Services (LPS) is best known for its Mortgage Servicing Package (MSP), a technology platform that banks used to manage loans from origination through servicing and recovery. The company began in 2001 when Fidelity National Information Services (FIS) spun off its mortgage processing business into a public company, and its name describes exactly what it did: processing loans for lenders. Its technology later became the core of Black Knight, a firm now owned by the Intercontinental Exchange.
