NV Energy, Inc.

A Nevada utility that supplies electricity to most of the state and natural gas to the Reno–Sparks area. It grew out of a 1999 merger between Sierra Pacific Power, whose roots reach back to 1899 when its Farad hydro plant powered Virginia City's silver mines, and Nevada Power, and later took its name from Nevada's "NV" abbreviation. Today it is part of Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway Energy.
