CVR Energy runs refineries in Coffeyville, Kansas and Wynnewood, Oklahoma that turn crude oil into gasoline, diesel, and other fuels, and its CVR Partners subsidiary makes nitrogen fertilizer for farmers. The company was formed in 2006 to acquire the Coffeyville refinery, which has been operating since 1903, and investor Carl Icahn later became its largest shareholder.
