American Realty Capital Trust, Inc.
A real estate investment trust (REIT) that buys and owns free-standing retail properties—like Walgreens, CVS, and Dollar General stores—leased to a single tenant under net leases. Founded in 2010 by financier Nicholas Schorsch, it grew by snapping up other REITs, and its founder earned the nickname "REIT king" for his rapid acquisition sprees. In 2013 the original trust was folded into Realty Income, one of the world's largest landlords.
Common Stock — Acquired by Realty Income (NYSE: O) on January 22, 2013
