Ralcorp Holdings, Inc.

A St. Louis food company that made the store-brand cereals, crackers, cookies, frozen waffles and refrigerated dough shoppers see on supermarket shelves, Ralcorp was one of the largest private-label food makers in the US. It was born in 1994 when Ralston Purina spun off its human-food business, and its name blends "Ral" (from Ralston) with "corp." A fun twist: after spinning off the Post cereal brands in 2012, the company itself was soon swallowed up by ConAgra.
