Akzo Nobel NV
A Dutch multinational that makes paints and performance coatings for homes, businesses, ships, and cars, selling household names like Dulux and the professional-grade Sikkens brand. Its roots reach back to 1792, but the company took its current shape in 1994 when the Dutch chemicals firm Akzo NV merged with Sweden's Nobel Industries. That Swedish half traces its lineage to Alfred Nobel, the inventor of dynamite and founder of the Nobel Prizes, which is how the company came to carry his name.
