Heineken NV
A Dutch brewer and one of the world's largest, Heineken makes the famous green-bottled Heineken lager along with hundreds of other beer and cider brands sold in dozens of countries. It all began in 1864, when 22-year-old Gerard Adriaan Heineken bought an Amsterdam brewery nicknamed "De Hooiberg" ("The Haystack"). A fun detail: the brand's red star, printed on its labels since the 1880s, was briefly switched to white during the Cold War to avoid any hint of communism.
