Western Asset High Yield Opportunity Fund Inc.
A closed-end investment fund that pools money to buy high-yield corporate bonds — often called "junk bonds" — in search of steady income, and it trades on the New York Stock Exchange. Launched in 2010, it takes its "Western Asset" name from its sub-adviser, Western Asset Management, a fixed-income specialist founded in 1971 that long called Pasadena home. Fun twist: it originally carried the word "Defined" in its name because it was set to shut down on a fixed date, until shareholders voted in 2025 to make it an ongoing fund and drop the word.
Common stock of the closed-end fund (formerly Western Asset High Yield Defined Opportunity Fund Inc., renamed August 2025 after converting from term to perpetual structure).
