Western Asset High Income Opportunity Fund Inc.
An investment fund that trades on the New York Stock Exchange like a stock, pooling money to buy high-yield corporate bonds and pay investors regular income. Launched in November 1993 as the "High Income Opportunity Fund," it was renamed in 2006 to carry the Western Asset name after that Pasadena, California bond manager, founded in 1971, came to oversee it. Its ticker HIO simply abbreviates its original name: High Income Opportunity.
