Northwest Biotherapeutics Inc
A biotechnology company building personalized cancer vaccines called DCVax that use a patient's own immune cells to target their tumor, rather than a one-size-fits-all drug. Its lead product, DCVax-L, is being developed for glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. The company was founded in 1996 by Dr. Alton Boynton, a scientist from Seattle's Pacific Northwest, the region that inspired its name; he had earlier led research at the Pacific Northwest Research Foundation that later gave rise to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center.
