Pershing Gold Corporation

A gold exploration and mining company built around the Relief Canyon Mine in Pershing County, Nevada, an area where gold was first discovered in 1979. It began in 2007 as a dormant shell company called Excel Global and, after several name changes, became Pershing Gold in 2012 — a name honoring the county, itself named for World War I General John J. Pershing. Americas Gold and Silver acquired the company in 2019.
