First Trust NASDAQ-100 Select Equal Weight ETF
An exchange-traded fund that flips the Nasdaq-100 on its head: instead of letting the biggest members dominate, it picks 50 companies from the index using a "Blended Quality and Growth Score" and gives each one an equal weight. Built by First Trust, the Chicago firm founded in 1991 by Robert Van Kampen, the ETF launched in 2006 and rebalances quarterly, so a mid-size tech firm's daily move counts as much as a mega-cap's.
The fund tracks the Nasdaq-100 Equal Weighted Index, investing equally across the largest non-financial companies listed on Nasdaq.
