Wageworks, Inc.
A maker of software that runs tax-advantaged employee benefit programs, WageWorks administered health savings accounts, flexible spending accounts, and commuter benefits that let workers pay for transit and parking with pre-tax dollars. Founded in 2000, it grew partly by buying TransitChek, the brand that had pioneered tax-free commuter passes since 1987. In 2019 it was absorbed by HealthEquity, which now carries on its commuter and benefit programs.
